ULK Gisenyi Campus Staff and Students Participate in Umuganda

On Saturday 31st May, 2025 in Rubavu District, Nyakiriba Sector ULK Gisenyi campus students and staff along with the Rubavu District Mayor, members of parliament, security officials, and local community participated in Umuganda.

Umuganda is a national community activity that takes place on the last Saturday of each month. It’s a tradition where Rwandans and people who live in Rwanda voluntarily engage in public works to improve their communities, fostering unity, development, and social responsibility. Umuganda translates to “coming together in common purpose to achieve an outcome”.

In line with Kigali Independent University (ULK) commitment to supporting local communities, offering various outreach initiatives, ULK students paid for Mutuelle de Sante (Community Based Health Insurance) for 205 disadvantaged families worth 615, 000frw.

After addressing the public, the ULK Director of Academic and Finance handed the envelope to the beneficiaries.

During his speech, Mr. Prosper MURINDWA, the Mayor of Rubavu District, expressed his gratitude to the ULK community for their remarkable contributions. He encouraged all attendees to continue serving the nation by engaging in various initiatives that promote the development of both the country and its people.
